128DJ'S Exclusive Interview's - Matt Sayers

Eexclusive interview with a MASSIVE up & coming producer, Matt Sayers, who's tracks have recently been played by the likes of Chuckie & Kissy Sell Out (BBC Radio One) to name but a few. 2010 has been quite a year for Matt with 2011 looking like it could be even better

"So Matt, why justin beiber? haha"
The real question is why NOT Justin Bieber...haha...No but honestly I just wanted to take what was an already funky and hilarious track and just put my personal weird twist on it. I actually had so many other names I was cycling through but come on, it's Justin Bieber...lol

"Turning out to be quite some year for yourself, what would you put it down to? "
I would say that I definitely wouldn't be having such a great year if it wasn't for all the support through Soundcloud & blogs. With so much talent out there right now you really need to distinguish yourself with your sound, look, and presence you bring to the table. I have been extremely persistent and vocal with spreading my music and my sound until I'm almost shoving it down people's throats it seems. I'm finding my groove but at the same time every single track enlightens me into something different and a new technique so I'm continually learning

"Whats your plans for 2011?"
I'd say my main goal is to continue to knock out tracks that people love and finally gain a strong following. As well I'd like to get my tracks on playlists of some of the top DJ's out there, I'm hitting their ears as it is now, but I want to get them spun in front of the masses. 2011 will be my year in trying to capitalize on this momentum I've gained and to blow the lid off people.

Your top 5 tracks at the moment?
Hmmmmm that's tough....

1) Afrojack - Amanda
2) GIO - Woop It Up Ft. A Girl & A Gun (Mr. Skeleton & B.h(a)ve Hood Remix)
3) Don Diablo & Diplo - Make U Pop (Dynasty Remix)
4) Coin Operated Boy - Trust Me (Clouds Remix)
5) A Lost People - Big Booty Bitches (Crizzly Dubstep Remix)

"If you could pick any producer to work with at the moment who would it be & why?"

First I'd say any of the producers on the Top 5 tracks I'm listening to at the moment would be awesome, BUT, I would have to say "Diplo". If you take away the fame and all that, his ability to create genre bending tracks fascinates me. He would be someone who, if in the room producing, would push you to a level that you never knew possible, and those are the type of people you not only want, but NEED to work with.

"Whats so special about the dutch sound that's led you to produce these kind of tracks?"

My favorite thing is that it's truly not so genre specific and DJ's who I never thought would start producing dutch house, have started. I see that people think dutch house is a fad or will fade out quick, and granted sometimes to many bleepy bleep crap is annoying. Except, producers continue to evolve dutch house into much more, with Fidget, Dubstep, Electro tracks being incorporated. When I started hearing dutch house it just blew my mind how crazy it could get, and how intense all your synth & drum patterns could be.

"Where can we catch you spinning at the moment?"

At the moment I have taken a hiatus, I've truly been focusing on producing at the moment, but I'm ready to play at the tip of a hat.

"Any big gigs coming up?"

Well I'm working out some plans for gigs in NYC very soon and also I have a location booked for WMC '11 ...hopefully once my name spreads out more I'll be getting those serious bookings haha

"What got you into Djing & producing?"

I had gotten into DJing first and foremost simply because of the music. Once I started handing out mixes and such to friends and their friends it was really cool knowing I can make or break someones mood. I loved the idea of making that perfect euphoric night for people that could draw them back to you and want to simply hear you play music. The production started because as I heard tracks I would get upset and wonder, why'd they do this or that?, they should have changed this sound, and so on. I started tinkering around and before you know it my tracks are in the hands of people I had been listening to for years lol.

"Time to blow your own trumpet, why buy your tracks? "

People say, if you truly want to support an artist, you buy there music. With that being said, if you have my music whether you paid for it or not, your support of downloading, listening, sharing my songs is all I want. I find more support by getting messages from people I don't know, in countries I will never visit, lol, saying they dropped my track and the place went nuts. I'm in a position where there truly isn't anything more gratifying then people wanting my music.

HUGE respect to Matt for taking the time out for this.
