For those who don’t know you, who are you?
Hi Brent, I’m a german DJ and Producer with a Scottish Artist name and family roots in France.
How old were you when you got your first gig? And where was it?
I got my first gig at age 22 and played at the legendary M1 Club in Stuttgart. They asked me to be resident DJ for the club after playing a couple of gigs there. I had some really fun times and a lot of great opportunities at M1, which was a hotspot for electronic music and I was supporting international top acts like Axwell, Bob Sinclair, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Eric Prydz, Benny Benassi and many more.
Which venues have you played at and which is your favourite?
The absolute Highlight in my career has been and still is Nature One, the largest open-air festival in Germany. Over 60 000 people gather here to party on 10 floors. Playing there is pure adrenalin, thousands of people standing in front of me, cheering and partying to my music! I’ll be playing there for the 6th time this year, you can find me on the “in bed with space” floor (Ibiza).
You have currently released a chart stomper ‘No Good 2011’ reaching number 1 in the German dance charts, what is your next step from here and what are you planning for the future?
Some new songs are already finished and will be released soon, sorry but I can’t get into details yet but they will definitely be released on Ministry of Sound or We Play.
Since my No. 1 success I’m being showered with requests for remixes, Warren Clarke – Everybody (Sean Finn Remix) was shortly released on Milk & Sugar Records and at the moment I’m working on Remix for Loona who had a top hit with Bailando.
You are a well known established DJ/Producer, what advice could you give to up and coming DJ's / producers wanting to get there name out there?
Believe in yourself and don’t let yourself get distracted! Your going to need to work hard if you want to reach the top of the charts. Of course a little luck can’t hurt….. I always try to give newcomers a chance because I know from experience how hard it is to get started in this business. Don’t ever give up on your dreams!
Who are your main musical influences?
Balearic grooves and electronic sounds coupled with whichever mood I’m in today. My inspiration comes from somewhere inside of me.
What are your top 10 most played tracks on your iTunes?
Dabruck & klein ft. stella attar - heartbeat
Plastic funk – upside down
Bonkers – coloured ( sean finn remix )
Syke & Sugarstarr feat. Cosmo Klein - No Satisfacion (Mischa Daniels RMX)
Bingo players – cry ( just a little )
King Richards & danny torrence – Stupidisco ( sean finn remix )
DBN & Matty Menck feat. Rosie Henshaw – Redemption
Warren Clarke - Everybody ( Sean Finn Remix )
Jean Elan – What I Takes ( DBN RMX )
Damon Paul feat. Kayna – fly ( sean finn remix )
If you hosted your own party, which 3 DJ's would you have play?
Tough question! There are a lot of good artists: Ricardo Villalobos, with whom I’ve had some of my most legendary parties or my longstanding friends The Disco Boys. Also of course Jay Frog who is going to play at my birthday party again this year.
Are there any big productions to look out for?
Like I said, there are 2 or 3 new songs with great top-hit potential that will be released soon. I can’t say anymore at the time but there are also lots of remixes that are coming out soon, for example chris Montana – rehab ( sean finn remix ) Cabballero – Paris Latino ( sean finn rmx ), kolya & matuya feat. Ely – I will rock ( sean finn & timo graf rmx ), tito torres feat. Ella – fells like world ( sean finn remix ), Lorenzo al dino & deep josh ft. cope – lullaby ( sean finn rmx ) Miami Inc. feat. Jason Mc Knight – No Sleep ( sean finn remix ) Jack Morado – Gimme Dance ( Sean Finn Rmx ), Kid Chris – shut up ( sean finn rmx )
How would you describe your own sound and way of producing?
I’m usually not to keen on being pegged on one sound but I guess it would have to be called a mix of house, electro, progressive house and tech house.
You have already achieved so much at such a young age, what do you want to achieve in the future?
I want to stay true to myself and work hard for my future goals. Someday I want to have the whole world grooving to my music.
What software do you prefer for producing?
I started out with Cubase, then changed to Logic. But I think it doesn’t really matter, Laidback Luke for example only works with Fruty Loops and makes great hits! You don’t necessarily need high technology, Ableton live is also really good.
Where are you playing and why?
Ibiza! With all of my friends….open air. The sound is just so much clearer open air than in a club, it’s just amazing! Playing my last gig at the beach with the sun going down in the background – nothing can top that feeling.
"Tunes of the summer?" In your opinion.
Bingo Players - Cry (Just A Little) (Original Mix) orRitmo Playaz - Everybody Loves The Sunshine (Sean Finn Remix)
Both are realy cool songs for the beach and the summer time. They invoke feelings like sun, hot girls, beach and a lot of relaxing fun.
Anyone out there that you anticipate will be the next big up and coming?
Theres a lot of good artists who will probably make it big soon, I’d bet on David Puentez, Damon Paul, Kid Chris, Timo Graf and Andy Chiles.
Who is your favourite DJ?
Oh man, there are so many that I like and respect!
Syke n sugarstarr doing a good job or the DBN guys or Chris Montana.
What is your favourite drink to sip on during a performance?
My favorite drinks are Cuba Libre (Havanna 7 years) or Grey Goose Vodka with Red Bull.128DJ's would like to say a huge thankyou to Sean Finn for his time and support and wish him all the best in the future! Check out more from Sean:
